About The Frequencies i Survived by James Poland
Every day after school, I watched the same kids walk to the same man and hand him twenty dollars each.
Then somebody told me weed was a plant.
*Aight, bet that."
"Momma, we ain't never finna worry about a dollar again — I promise you.
I was a kid. Gulf Coast, Florida Panhandle. Poverty-driven, hungry for the other side of a feeling I'd had my whole life. So I did what made sense to a kid chasing that hunger — I grew.
Small town weed dealer to federal interstate trafficker. That's not a hook. That's not a pitch. That's what happened.
I'm not here to apologize for it. I'm not asking you to either. I can't change a single second of it, and I wouldn't trade the lesson for a cleaner story. This is what I lived. This is what I survived.
But here's the part nobody tells you — everybody's tuned into a frequency. One you can't see, can't hear, but you're broadcasting it every single day. And whatever frequency you're on is exactly what you keep attracting into your life. Some of those frequencies are loops. And some loops are a doozy to claw your way out of.
I know because I got caught in one. And I know because I'm still here to tell you about it — when the honest math says I shouldn't be.
Everybody who lived stories like mine is either dead or in prison. I ended up in jail. Keyword: jail. Not prison — even though prison is what I'd already earned, dead to rights, if the story had gone even a hair different.
Somehow, someway, I never got the rug pulled out from under me. I rode that thing like Aladdin's carpet straight into the outcome I was telling myself in my own head I wanted.
This book is that ride. Wherever you're at right now — that's exactly where you're supposed to be. And the worst day of your life? It's the reason you can look in the mirror today and say you're proud of who's looking back.
Still the worst thing that ever happened to you. Still shaped you into somebody worth being.
If you need it clean, this ain't your book. If you can handle the truth loud and the wisdom louder — turn the page.
The Frequencies i Survived Podcast out now on Youtube!
The book tells my story. The podcast is where I sit down with the people who were actually there for different parts of it.
Some of these conversations may be with people I have not seen in more than a decade. Some may remember the same moment completely differently. Some may have known me before I understood myself, while others may have crossed paths with me during a chapter I thought I had already put behind me.
That is what makes this different. These are not scripted interviews built around a shared belief system, a predictable lesson, or a neat version of the past. They are raw, uncut conversations with real people from different walks of life, brought together by a real connection to James and a history that deserves to be revisited honestly.
We will talk about what actually happened, what I thought was happening at the time, what the other person saw that I could not see, and how both perspectives look now. The funny parts, the uncomfortable parts, the parts that sound completely made up, and the moments that still do not feel real looking back on them—all of it is on the table.
Were you part of one of those chapters?
If you knew James at some point in his life and have a story, memory, perspective, or completely different version of something you both lived through, reach out.
Maybe you remember meeting James and forming an immediate opinion. Maybe he said or did something that stayed with you—positively or negatively. Maybe you shared a moment that still sounds unhinged when you tell it out loud. Maybe you simply remember a version of him that he no longer recognizes.
Those are the conversations this podcast is built for.
If you would like to be considered for an episode, fill out the story-submission form or email contact@frequenciesisurvived.online with the subject line Podcast Story Submission.
